IVT was presented with an Innovation Award for Outstanding Achievement in the field of Science and Technology from the Discovery Awards for Science & Technology, a project of Discovery Centre.  Dr. Pirouz Daftarian, Head Scientist, Cancer Research, accepted the award on behalf of IVT on November 30, 2006 at a ceremony held at The Westin Hotel located in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, (March 21, 2004) Dr. Warwick Kimmins, President and CEO of ImmunoVaccine Technologies Inc. (IVT), is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Marc Mansour as Head Scientist, Reproductive Biology and Head Scientist, Infectious Diseases. Dr. Mansour received his doctorate from Dalhousie University in 2001. His expertise lies in the field of molecular biology and immunology. His previous work included the generation of transgenic fish for human medical applications and the structural/ functional characterization of numerous genes expressed in specialized cells of the human immune system. Since he graduated, Dr. Mansour has been working at ImmunoVaccine Technologies in the capacity of research scientist in the R&D division. Dr. Mansour's recent contributions at ImmunoVaccine Technologies include the functional characterization and tailoring of the VacciMax® platform for a variety of contraceptive and infectious disease vaccines. The appointment of Dr. Mansour as head scientist is a reflection of the recent advancement achieved in the development of preclinical vaccine candidates entering ImmunoVaccine Technologies' product pipeline.

 

About IVT IVT is a vaccine enhancement company with a unique platform technology, VacciMax®, which can be applied to most human and veterinary vaccines and immunotherapies. In addition to its current veterinary projects, other IVT programs include industry relationships to develop human vaccines against infectious disease and cancer. Dr. Pirouz Daftarian, Head Scientist, Tumour Biology

Dr. Warwick Kimmins, President and CEO of ImmunoVaccine Technologies Inc. (IVT), is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Pirouz Daftarian as Head Scientist, Tumour Biology.

Dr. Pirouz Daftarian has been appointed effective July 1, 2004. Dr. Daftarian was our 1st ranked candidate from 256 applications, and joins us from the Beckman Institute in California. IVT appreciates the assistance provided by ACOA under the Innovative Skills Development Initiative (ISDI) Program which provided support for Dr. Daftarian’s relocation expenses and salary in the form of a non-repayable grant.

Dr. Daftarian received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Ottawa in 1997. He did his fellowship in Immunology/virology and Cancer at the Childrens Hospital, University of Ottawa and BC Children’s Hospital of UBC. In April 2002, Dr. Daftarian began working at the Laboratory for Vaccine Research in the Beckman Research Institute of The City of Hope, Duarte, California. Dr. Daftarian has presented internationally on vaccine and immunology meetings. He has also published in peer reviewed manuscripts, and abstracts in scientific journals in the area of vaccines for Cancer, CMV and HIV as well as HIV immunopathogenesis.

ImmunoVaccine Technologies Inc. is a Halifax biotechnology company providing a unique liposome-based single-dose vaccine platform, trade-named VacciMax® to companies seeking to develop enhanced-response vaccines. IVT’s first products are immunocontraceptive vaccines for controlling animal fertility, under the trade-name SpayVac®.
