Dr. Randal Chase President & CEO
| Dr. Randal Chase is a respected leader with more than thirty years experience in the biotechnology sector. Currently, he is President and CEO of ImmunoVaccine Technologies, providing expertise in strategy and tactics of drug development, financing and regulatory affairs. He has served as President, CEO or a director of several world-class biotech companies. His past positions include: President of Shire Biologics, President & CEO of North American Vaccine, President & CEO of Pasteur Merieux Connaught for Canada and Mexico (now Sanofi Adventis), President & CEO of Quadra Logic Technologies Inc. and Senior Vice President of Glaxo Canada Inc. Dr. Chase has overseen the complete development and commercialization of many products. As President & CEO, he has guided several companies through mergers, acquisitions and initial public offerings. Additionally, he and his teams have raised over $25O million in equity and debt capital in both private and public markets. Dr. Chase has a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of British Columbia. He also attended the Executive Programme at the London Business School in the UK. He has numerous contacts within the biotechology sector and is active as a board member with several companies and organizations, including: Chair of Medicago (TSX Venture), Bioject (NASDAQ), Acambis Inc. (FTSE and NASDAQ), Conjuchem (TSX), and BIOTECanada. |
| Dr. William A. Cochrane Director | Dr. Cochrane moved from Toronto to Halifax in 1958 becoming Professor and Head of Pediatrics at Dalhousie Medical School in 1963. Dr. Cochrane is well recognized as the founding Dean of Medicine for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary. He served as Deputy Minister of Health Services with the Government of Alberta, prior to his appointment as President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Calgary. In 1978, Dr. Cochrane assumed a business career as Chairman, President and CEO of Connaught Laboratories Ltd. Dr. Cochrane today serves as a Director of several Canadian and American companies. Dr. Cochrane is the Chairman of IVT’s Compensation Committee. |
| Wade K. Dawe Director | Wade K. Dawe has been an entrepreneur in Canadian mining and venture capital industries since 1994. With extensive contacts in the business and investment banking communities he has raised tens of millions of dollars of equity financing for private and public companies and he has been instrumental in raising the equity financing for IVT. Mr. Dawe is the President and CEO of Linear Gold Corp, a Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) listed company. He is a founding shareholder of Keeper Resources Inc., a Calgary-based producer of oil and gas, and retains a position on its board. Mr. Dawe also serves on the Board of Directors of TSX listed Minco Silver Corp and TSX Venture listed East Energy Inc. Mr. Dawe earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) in 1992. A native of Newfoundland and Labrador, he now makes his home in Halifax, Nova Scotia. | |
| The Honourable Michael Kirby Chairman of the Board | Michael Kirby is an international leader in advancing health care. His distinguished career spans academia, business, provincial and federal service. He was appointed the first Chair of the Mental Health Commission of Canada. He also serves on several boards including The Bank of Nova Scotia, Extendicare, Ontario Energy Savings Income Trust, MDC Partners and Indigo Books and Music. Senator Kirby was past chair of the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology. He has been a member of the Trilateral Commission, the Council of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, Luxemburg, Austria, and the Club of Rome. He was also a full-time professor in the School of Business Administration and the School of Public Administration at Dalhousie University. |
| Brian Lowe Vice President
| As an accomplished entrepreneur and businessman with over thirty years experience, Mr. Lowe brings invaluable expertise to ImmunoVaccine Technologies Inc (IVT). Currently Mr. Lowe is Vice President of IVT and as a co-founder of the company is recognized for the incorporation and the initial funding of IVT and over $10 million in other startup funding. Mr. Lowe’s past experience includes serving as the President/CEO/Founder of three environmental companies based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and successful negotiation of the sale of these companies to Laidlaw Environmental Services Ltd. in South Carolina. Mr. Lowe is a co-founder and a director of the First Angel Network Association, Atlantic Canada’s Association for Private Investors and is a shareholder and Director of several operating companies throughout Atlantic Canada. He is also a director of BioNova, Nova Scotia Life Sciences Association and a director of International Science and Technology Partnership Canada (ISTP Canada). |
| Denis Ryan Director
| Dr. Ryan joined Wood Gundy as a stockbroker in Halifax from 1983 to 1990. From 1990 to 1998, he was Vice President Institutional Asset-Management with Altamira. Mr. Ryan is part-owner of Investment Counsel Morrison Williams Investment Management Ltd. He is involved with numerous community projects, most notable National Chairperson of the Fundraising Committee of the Darcy McGee Chair of Irish Studies at St. Mary's University in Halifax, former Member of the Board of Governors at St. Francis Xavier University. In 1994, he received an honorary degree, Doctor of Letters from St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. |
| Ron Smith Vice President Finance | Ronald E. Smith has over thirty years experience as a Chartered Accountant. As CFO of two major public companies, he has more than 16 years of experience serving Boards and Audit Committees directly. Mr. Smith is the Chairman of IVT’s Audit Committee. He has served on Boards and Audit Committees of three Canadian public companies, and numerous not-for-profit organizations over the past 20 years. He is currently serving on the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, the crown corporation managing over $70 billion of Canada Pension Plan funds. Mr. Smith is the current Chair of Acadia University Board of Governors. He completed the ICD Corporate Governance College Directors Education Program and obtained ICD Certified Director designation in 2004. As a corporate director, Mr. Smith has been involved in four merger and acquisition transactions. |
